LETTER: Thanks to supporters of tag sale for Stamford Hospital

FI-Letter-to-the-EditorTo the Editor:

A very warm thank you to everyone who came out to support this past weekend’s major family tag sale, hosted by the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation and Point72 Asset Management.

Hundreds of people showed up to walk through the tent and browse items that included collectibles, electronics, clothing and accessories, kitchen items, toys and games and sports equipment. The thousands of dollars raised at the event will benefit Stamford Hospital’s comprehensive pediatric services provided under our new Cohen Children’s Institute.

Of course, we are ever grateful to have the support of the Cohen Foundation and the Point72 family by extension, whose employees not only contributed items to the sale, but participated in the event as well.

As you know, philanthropy is vital to a not-for-profit hospital. To have this type of corporate, foundation and individual support is a prime example of this community’s commitment to ensuring families in our region have access to top-quality medical care, no matter what their financial status may be.

As chair of the Hospital’s Pediatrics Department and Medical Director of the Cohen Children’s Institute, I am humbled by such an outpouring of support, and feel privileged to practice medicine at an institution that is establishing a new generation of pediatric patient care for years to come.

Gerald Rakos, MD

Chair, Pediatrics & Medical Director, Cohen Children’s Institute
