A Night of Music and Laughter to benefit Greenwich nonprofit SFTT

Some of the country’s most enduring — and entertaining — musicians and comedians will gather on Veterans Day to raise awareness and funds for the men and women who put themselves on the frontline every day for our country and returning vets affected by the ‘hidden’ injuries of Traumatic Brain Injury and Post Traumatic Stress. Proceeds will benefit Stand For The Troops (SFTT) Foundation’s Rescue Coalition. SFTT is a Greenwich, Connecticut based nonpartisan, apolitical nonprofit foundation started by the late Colonel David “Hack” Hackworth and his wife Eilhys England Hackworth in 1998 to support the troops and veterans with more than lip service. “Hack” would have been pleased to know the 21-star salute to rally support for the troops was being celebrated on November 11 which is not only Veterans Day but also his birthday.

A Night Of Music And Laughter takes place Wednesday, Nov. 11, at 7 p.m., at the intimate 800-seat Concert Hall at the Ethical Cultural Society, 2 West 64th Street, New York, N.Y.

The line-up of legendary greats and rising stars includes Judy Collins, The Manhattan Transfer, Little Anthony, Michael Bacon, Bettye LaVette, Jonatha Brooke, David & Sophie Buskin, Lea Delaria, Yaron Gershovsky, Jennifer Pacanowski, Vincent Pastore, Paul Shaffer and a world-class house band featuring Robbie Kondor (keyboard), John McCurry (guitar), Clint de Ganon (drums) and Will Lee (bass). Tickets for this special one night only event are available at ticketfly.com/purchase/event/973813/tfly .

With one in five Soldiers and Marines returning from Iraq and Afghanistan affected by combat-related PTSD and a shocking 22 Vets committing suicide every day, SFTT’s Rescue Coalition is focused on helping our most at-risk Veterans get the timely treatment they need to reclaim their live and transition back to their families, communities. The Coalition works to remove the stigma by raising awareness, providing connections to effective pro bono treatments, supporting other promising treatment protocols and establishing modular pilot programs for replication across the country.

ABOUT SFTT

Stand For The Troops (SFTT) is a 501 (c) 3 c non-profit organization that is dedicated to safeguarding the physical and emotional well-being of America’s frontline and returning troops. With more than one third of American Warriors suffering from Post Traumatic Stress (PTS) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and, given the number of active duty and veterans who take their own lives every day, SFTT is committed to improve and deliver therapies for PTS and TBI to these Warriors that were willing to stand up for our nation.

SFTT is pursuing this objective through a three pronged attack:

1. Providing research funding to investigate PTS and TBI

2. Gathering a variety of highly qualified specialists across many disciplines to evaluate the different therapies for PTS and TBI as they become available.

3. Attempting to replicate effective treatments nationwide through the Rescue Coalition and make them available to Soldiers and Veterans.

While SFTT continues to research new programs to benefit our warriors suffering from these invisible war wounds, it continues to support our serving soldiers and ensure they have the best available body armor and combat equipment to bring them home, alive and in one piece. Visit www.sftt.org.
