Local SAT and ACT expert to present free presentation

This year there are a few added challenges for sophomores and juniors beginning college test prep. As of fall 2015, the ACT is offering an “enhanced writing test,” including a revised essay prompt. And beginning in March 2016, the SAT will be completely redesigned, with new scoring, curricula, and strategies. The PSAT, administered by local high schools to sophomores and juniors this October, will reflect the new SAT curriculum.

Creating a strong plan for test preparation can help alleviate the stress associated with the testing process. Lynn Carnegie, founder of local test prep company Carnegie Pollak, will be giving a presentation at the Cos Cob Library about how to navigate the world of standardized testing Wednesday, Sept. 30, at 7:30 p.m., free.

“There are so many questions parents don’t even know to ask about this process, especially with the changes to the SAT and ACT this year,” Carnegie says. “My presentations will give an overview of the testing process to start the dialogue and make it less intimidating for parents.”

Carnegie Pollak has been preparing Fairfield County students for standardized tests for more than 30 years. Their outstanding track record with group classes and private tutoring has earned the company the prestigious Best of the Gold Coast award for more than seven years.

Join Lynn Carnegie at this free presentation to learn how to help your student prepare for the PSAT, SAT, and/or ACT; what changes are coming in 2015-2016; and how to avoid common pitfalls in the test prep process.
