Needs Clearing House donates $2,000 to SquirrelWood Equine Sanctuary

The Needs Clearing House, a Greenwich-based nonprofit organization recently presented a check for $2,000 to the SquirrelWood Equine Sanctuary to kick off a fund-raising campaign to rescue horses bound for slaughter.

The check presenters were State Rep. Fred Camillo, Joe Kaliko, Needs Clearing House Co-President and Greenwich Police Captain Mark Kordick, all representing the Needs Clearing House. Representatives from SquirrelWood also were in attendance.

SquirrelWood rescues horses bound for slaughter and also is a sanctuary for many other types of animals. Representative Camillo is a champion for animals in Connecticut’s legislature and learned the sanctuary, located on 92 acres in Montgomery N.Y., needed financial assistance.
