Greenwich Salvation Army sponsors annual food drive

For the 10th year, the Greenwich Service Unit of the Salvation Army is sponsoring their annual Town employee and resident food drive, which benefits Neighbor to Neighbor and the Greenwich Department of Social Services’ emergency food pantry.

The drive will be held Thursday, June 25, from 8-4, in the Gisborne Room in Town Hall.

This year we are focusing on children in need during the summer months. About 15% of Greenwich students (more than 1,300) receive free or reduced lunch during the school year and the summer months can present a challenge for some parents to meet food needs.

The most needed items are cereal, Parmalat, canned fruit, healthy snacks, canned tuna, peanut butter, jelly, juice boxes, milk boxes (unrefrigerated), nutrition bars. Also needed: pasta/tomato sauce, canned soup, canned corn.

Please help us fill our pantries at a time of year when supplies are low.
