Garden Education Center: What’s happening in June?

The Garden Education Center of Greenwich, 130 Bible Street, Cos Cob, presents the following programs in June:

Graniflora, The Glory of the Garden, Thursday, June 4, 10-4. A self-guided tour of spectacular local gardens. Rain or shine. Advance purchase a must.

Mushrooms — Nature Play with Caregivers — up to 3-years-old runs various Wednesdays through June 17, from 9-10. This early time of discovery, participation, and sensory growth is vital. We’ll practice equipping for active outdoor activities, rain or shine. In case of extreme weather, we bring nature stations into our bright, ecofriendly classroom. Let’s share our favorite songs, stories, and tips, tales, and healthy recipes from the garden. Advance registration appreciated.

Pollinators — Second Sundays, for those ages 12-17-years-old, Sunday, June 14, from 2-4, in the garden. Design, experiment and build. We play with aquaponics, hydroponics, plant grafting, composting, and more. Experiments in the learning garden and classroom will improve our yield in our Neighbor to Neighbor garden donations. Your work is showcased during field trips for younger students. We explore the Pinetum as creative and active stewards of our green spaces.

Family Nature Play — Third Sundays, Sunday, June 21, 2-4, in the garden. All ages are offered a themed afternoon of different family activities to explore nature. Enjoy an art table area, a construction and engineering area, observation blankets with book baskets, and a themed science search or challenge. Includes Nature Brain games/challenges.

Sprouts & Seedlings Summer Enrichment, Sprouts: 3-7-year-olds, June 22-26; June 29-July 3; Aug. 3-7; Aug. 17-21, 9-noon. Are You Geared Up for Nature Connection? We’ll help you and your young explorers build up resources to connect with the natural world. We gain practice equipping ourselves for outdoor activities, rain or shine. Learn which clothes to wear, what gear to bring, and the community resources you need for further family nature connection and a maximum amount of fresh air. In case of extreme weather, we bring nature stations into our bright classroom. Register by June 1.

Seedlings: ages 8-11-years-old, Aug. 17-21, 1-4 p.m., still available.

Summer Journals: Maps, Sketches, Stories, Doodles, and Searches with special guest experts who will explore with us and stretch our imaginations. Register by June 1.
