Department of Social Services announces upcoming holiday events

Greenwich Department of Social Services Holiday Aid Program is getting ready for two upcoming annual events this week.

Annual Angel Tree Distribution

Parents of children age 0-17 who are clients of the Department of Social Services requested specific clothing and toy items for their children, which were given to five different groups in the community. Gifts will be returned; wrapped, with the children’s first name on the package, and distributed to the families Wednesday, Dec. 16. Set up in the morning, until noon; families arrive for pick up 1-5:30, at the Town Hall Meeting Room, Town Hall, Greenwich.

Annual Toy Distribution

Parents of eligible children who are clients of the Department of Social Services have the opportunity to choose unwrapped toys, hats, gloves and other items. Toys are donated by many groups and individuals in the community. Invitations were sent to more than 300 families, representing about 550 children.

Set up is noon-4 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 18. Distribution is Saturday, Dec. 19, from 8-2, in the Community Room, Agnes Morley Heights, 249 Milbank Avenue.
