Castro appointed to CAIS board of directors

Marjorie Castro, Head of Eagle Hill School in Greenwich, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Association of Independent Schools (CAIS).

In announcing the appointment, CAIS said that Dr. Castro will bring “a wealth of experience as a school administrator to her new position on the board.” They noted that she had served as superintendent of schools for the Croton-Harmon School District prior to her current position at Eagle Hill, where she has been head since 2009. Prior to that, she was assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction for the Bedford District School Board, a principal at both the elementary and middle school levels and an adjunct professor at Bank Street College and Columbia University.

CAIS is a voluntary association of 97 non-profit independent schools serving more than 30,000 students in Connecticut towns and many other states and countries. A nonprofit, tax-exempt organization, CAIS is affiliated with NAIS and NEASC, and is a Recognized Accrediting Association in Connecticut. The association brings professional development events to several thousand teachers, administrators, trustees, and students each year.
