YWCA Charity Golf Tournament scores success

The 2012 YWCA Greenwich Charity Golf Tournament, an annual event enjoyed by many of the area’s top amateur golfers, was played recently at the Greenwich Country Club.

The tournament began with an 11:30 a.m. lunch, followed by 18 holes of golf on the testing layout including a hole-in-one contest. Then there was a dinner at 5:30 p.m. with a silent auction and the presentation of awards.

The Low Gross Score was won by the foursome of Dan Agro, Peter Carlson, Marc Johnson and Jed Usich. The Low Net Score foursome winners were John Cooper, Joan Lynch and Amy and John Zeeve. Terry Browne Kutzen and John Zeeve won the women’s and men’s Longest Drive, and Brooke Nethercott and Marc Johnson were the Closest to the Pin winners.

Proceeds from the Charity Golf Tournament will be used to support YWCA Greenwich programs and services including scholarships for children and youth in need who participate in preschool, after-school programs, and camps and aquatics. The money is also used for the YWCA’s free, 24/7 Domestic Abuse Services, the free Women’s Leadership Seminars and community-wide Racial Justice initiatives. The event was considered such a success that next year’s tournament is already set. Next year golfers will tee off on Monday, June 24 at the Greenwich Country Club.
