Food donations sought; free Thanksgiving lunch Sunday

Food donations may be dropped off at Chicken Joes, 231 East Putnam Avenue, Cos Cob Friday, Nov. 20, until 2 p.m. At 3:15 p.m., the first truck in a convoy bringing food to five shelters and food pantries in Southwestern Fairfield County and Westchester will be loading up.

The Needs Clearing House, Inc., and Chicken Joe (Marini) have partnered once again to help the community.

Food collected over the last few weeks is piling up and we will fill one truck tomorrow…and more trucks in the coming days.

Beneficiaries of the food include Greenwich’s Neighbor to Neighbor (located at Christ Curch on Putnam Ave), The Bridgeport Rescue Mission,  Inspirica in Stamford and a shelter in Elmsford, N.Y.

In addition, NCH and Ride for Kids are sponsoring a free pre-thanksgiving day lunch for 400-500 people on Sunday, Nov. 22, from noon-2, at the East Avenue United Methodist Church, 244 East Avenue, Norwalk. The lunch is open to the public. Turkey and all the fixings will be served.
