Connecticut Sports Talk: Dec. 2

New Canaan Advertiser sports editor Dave Stewart joins Rob Adams for Wednesday’s Nutmeg Sports. On this edition of the show, Dave and Rob discuss Tuesday night’s CIAC football quarterfinals. the FCIAC went 3-2, with Darien, New Canaan, and Trinity Catholic all picked up wins to move onto the state semifinals.

Dave was at Windsor the Rams’ game and reports on Matt Cognetta’s injury, as well as the performance of the rest of the Rams. Next up for New Canaan is a date with Notre Dame of West Haven.

Trinity Catholic plays Ansonia next in one of the marquee semifinal matchups. The perennial powerhouse Chargers will meet the upstart Crusaders in Ansonia.

Arguably, the game of the semis will be Darien and Southington – the consensus top two teams in the state. Due to Darien’s lack of lights at their stadium, the game will be played at venerable Boyle Stadium in Stamford. Rob and Dave welcome John Sini of Darien Planning and Zoning Commission. Mr. Sini discusses the community impact of if lights should be erected at Darien High School.
