Splurge donates scarves to cancer patients at Greenwich Hospital

For the fifth consecutive year, SPLURGE Unique Gifts, Home Décor, and Jewelry is privileged to partner with Smilow Cancer Hospital’s Greenwich Hospital Campus to donate scarves to patients undergoing chemotherapy treatments. From Oct. 1-31, with every purchase of $150 or more, SPLURGE will donate a beautiful pashmina scarf to a chemotherapy patient. SPLURGE customers are invited to hand write an encouraging note to the patient receiving the scarf. In the event that a customer would like to donate a pashmina scarf without meeting the minimum purchase, scarves are available for sale at a discounted price of only $20 each. At the end of the month SPLURGE will match the final quantity of donated scarves and double the gift to Greenwich Hospital.

SPLURGE owner Sonia Sotire Malloy commented, “I am happy to support National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Many people that I know and love have been touched by cancer, so I am eager to increase awareness and support those who are going through treatment. Over the past four years SPLURGE and our loyal clients have donated nearly 300 pashmina scarves to Smilow’s Greenwich Hospital Campus. We hope that these scarves and notes bring comfort and encouragement to Smilow’s chemotherapy patients.”

Maria Marini, Program Director of Oncology Services at Smilow Cancer Hospital’s Greenwich Hospital Campus added, “Greenwich Hospital is honored to again be the recipient of these lovely pashminas which are distributed to our cancer patients. SPLURGE’s generosity gives our patients a nice surprise during a very stressful time in their lives.”

SPLURGE and Greenwich Hospital are doing even more in October to help raise awareness and funding for cancer treatments. SPLURGE is participating in the second annual GO FOR PINK shopping event. On Thursday, October 1, 10% of sales will be donated to the Breast Cancer Alliance when customers mention GO FOR PINK. In addition, SPLURGE will offer a limited edition pink ribbon keychain and $10 from each keychain purchased will be donated to the Breast Cancer Alliance. Also in October, Greenwich Hospital will hold their OCEAN gala on October 24 at the Greenwich Country Club and all proceeds will benefit the hospital’s oncology services.
