Jewish Home honors Coleman

The Women’s Auxiliary of The Jewish Home announced that Joel C. Coleman, of Greenwich, will receive the Arthur and Gladys Lunin Humanitarian Award recognizing outstanding public and community service at the Women’s Auxiliary 2012 Fall Gala on Thursday, Oct. 25, at the Hilton Stamford Hotel.

Mr. Coleman served as general counsel for Playtex Products, Inc. for 26 years, following work with Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation and a large law firm in New York City. Mr. Coleman earned his law degree from the University of Pennsylvania, to which he is now an active sponsor and dedicated alumnus after graduating from The Wharton School.

Mr. Coleman has served on the Bruce Museum of Arts and Sciences Board and as trustee to Larchmont Temple in Larchmont, N.Y., where he has been a member since 1968. Mr. Coleman has been a member of The Jewish Home’s Board of Directors for the last 16 years where he has served on the Executive Committee, Finance Committee, as chairperson of the Employee Relations Committee and as a member of the Foundation Board. He currently is the chairperson of the Pension Investment Fund Committee. Mr. Coleman and his wife, Lois, are also sponsors of the annual Jewish Home Joel and Lois Coleman Lecture Series, geared towards educating the community on dementia.

The Women’s Auxiliary credited Mr. Coleman for all his work giving back and said he has done “so much for the betterment of The Jewish Home and the community-at-large.”
