J.McLaughlin expands and renovates Greenwich store

J.McLaughlin, the classic American clothing and accessories brand for women and men is expanding and re-designing its iconic Greenwich, Connecticut location. The new store will double in size and offer customers a wider assortment of men’s and women’s clothing.

“J.McLaughlin is excited to open the doors to our re-designed location,” says Co-Founder Kevin McLaughlin. “We’ve been a big part of the Greenwich community since we opened in 2001 and we are thrilled to expand our assortment and give this location the fresh coat of paint it deserves.”

When construction began on the expansion a historic façade was discovered on the exterior of one of the buildings. The architects uncovered the logo Vicki B. Taft and quickly began researching the origin of the space with the Greenwich Historical Society. They discovered that Vicki B. Taft was a popular ladies dress shop in the 1950’s. During its heyday it was one of the only destinations outside of New York for the ladies of Greenwich to find the styles of the season. In the spirit of old-school retailing and a nod to the history of the community J.McLaughlin is restoring the façade of this once popular shop.

The renovated Greenwich store will feature all of the elements of the trademark J.McLaughlin store experience, an inviting feeling with distinctive architectural details, furnishings and décor, including paint finishes derived from the signature brand palette.

About J.McLaughlin

Two brothers, Jay and Kevin McLaughlin, started J.McLaughlin in 1977. Their mission was to create a new American sportswear brand that offered two key components: classic clothes with current relevance and a retail environment that had a neighborhood feel.

The J.McLaughlin brand values tradition. It is more about style than fashion: straightforward, unpretentious, devoid of the superfluous. Silhouettes are timeless with a sense of the familiar. True to the brother’s vision the stores have a warm residential feel and exemplary customer service. This coupled with the company’s culture of “being good neighbors,” ensures that J.McLaughlin is both a welcome and active member of each community in which they are located.

The brand believes in American nostalgia and has an understated charm that is uniquely its own. Always optimistic, with a bit of wit and wonderfully original.
