EDITORIAL: Summer swan song

Believe it or not, the end is near. The end of summer, that is.

A long, warm and mostly restful summer season is near its end. While we will still have a few hot and sticky days, the temperature is slowly but surely cooling down. The night sky is making an appearance a lot earlier. As as we mentioned before, kids are already fretting about returning to school. Only the extended Labor Day weekend will give kids and adults alike one last taste of the warm season. We can only hope that weekend is not too rainy, giving people a few more days of sunshine before returning to a normal routine.

As the summer fades, we will soon be treated to leaves changing color and falling from the trees. We will also feel the wind kicking up a bit and the air becoming crisper and cooler. As much as we enjoy summer days, we’re sure there are plenty who enjoy walking outside when the weather is a bit cooler and sleeping without the need of a fan or an air conditioner. Also, we’ll get to enjoy Friday nights watching the Greenwich School Cardinals take to the gridiron in search of victory.

Here’s hoping you made the best of your summer, whether it included trips to the beach, a skydiving adventure or a stroll in the woods. Soon, you’ll need more than a T-shirt when you head outside.

Ain’t it cool?
