USTA Foundation and CT Alliance for Tennis and Education co-host fifth annual CT Pro-Am and Gala

USTA Foundation, the national charitable organization of the United States Tennis Association (USTA), has partnered with the Connecticut Alliance for Tennis and Education to co-host the fifth annual Connecticut Pro-Am and Gala on Friday, Aug. 28 at the Stanwich Club in Greenwich, bringing together tennis icons, enthusiasts, celebrities and rising stars in celebrating how tennis and education can leave a lasting impact on those in need.

Both events, the pro-am and the gala, will serve to raise money to help fund The USTA Foundation’s commitment to improving the quality of life among our nation’s youth, military heroes and people with disabilities through tennis and education, and The Alliance’s mission to support local Community Tennis Associations that serve thousands of youth throughout Connecticut.

The day will kick off at 9 a.m. with the pro-am that includes a doubles round robin. The tournament will feature former tennis pro and current ESPN analyst Patrick McEnroe along with former tennis pro and now General Manager of USTA Player Development Martin Blackman, as well as numerous up-and-coming tennis stars, all of whom will be paired with Foundation donors.

The day will continue with an evening reception at 5:30 p.m. hosted by Mike Greenberg, co-host of ESPN’s “Mike & Mike.” Honored guests include world famous tennis coach, entrepreneur, motivator, and International Tennis Hall of Famer Nick Bollettieri, who will serve as the event’s honorary chair. Greenberg and Bollettieri will be on hand to meet with guests throughout the evening. An additional highlight of the night includes a live auction where supporters will have an opportunity to bid on exclusive, one-of-a-kind packages and experiences.

“We are looking forward to a great day of tennis in the wonderful town of Greenwich,” said Dan Faber, USTA Foundation Executive Director. “I’m thrilled to join the Connecticut Alliance for Tennis and Education to host what will truly be a spectacular day. They are an ideal partner in co-hosting an event such as this, as we share a mutual understanding of the tremendous impact tennis and education can have on students around the nation. We are thankful to Mike Greenberg, Nick Bollettieri, our tennis pros as well as our rising stars of today’s game, all of whom are coming together to support the missions of the USTA Foundation and The Connecticut Alliance.”

“Over the last five years, The Connecticut Alliance for Tennis and Education has achieved tremendous momentum in its goal of supporting the development and operations of the wonderful Community Tennis Associations in Connecticut,” said Alex Seaver, Chairman of the Connecticut Alliance for Tennis and Education. “We are inspired by the work they do in providing tennis, academic and life mentoring programs to children. By teaming with the USTA Foundation we are confident that our shared missions will be even more successful. We are delighted.”

To date, the USTA Foundation has awarded more than $19 million, benefitting thousands through tennis, college scholarships, and education and health programs. The Connecticut Alliance for Tennis and Education is a 501(c)3 charitable organization that supports local Community Tennis Associations that, through tennis and higher education opportunities, annually serve more than 1,000 children who live in economically challenged communities within various cities in Connecticut.
