Executive director of Community Answers retires after 11 years

FI-Letter-to-the-EditorDear Staff & Volunteers,

Although it hardly seems possible, it is time for me to take my leave from this special place, so I want to bid you a fond farewell. Even as I look forward to what the future holds I wanted to take the time to recognize Community Answers.

From a rolodex of answers and a rotary phone in 1968, Community Answers today provides answers through a resource rich website. This year alone our web views have crossed the 100,000 mark. Our accomplishments did not come easily.

While navigating the challenges of technology, complexities of funding and keeping up with the changing needs of the community, we were guided by a simple principle — this free information & referral service would operate with the very public mission of providing consistently accurate, personalized easy access to local resources to all in need, regardless of their socio economic status, color, race, or citizenship. It gives me immeasurable pride to look back and to know that for each and every day of my 11 years, we have not wavered from that mission.

Working for the community as Executive Director of Community Answers has been the most satisfying and rewarding experience of my professional life. Our successes have depended on the extraordinary talents and commitment of so many — our dedicated staff, the vision of the Board of Directors, the generous support from the community, the exceptional partnership with Greenwich Library, and the unfailing loyalty of our volunteers.

I thank you for your patronage, support and involvement. As someone who has been told many times how unique and precious this jewel of a service is, I leave with the faith that Community Answers will continue to evolve and thrive going forward.

With respect and gratitude,

Chitra Shanbhogue

Executive Director
