Witherell Celebrity Golf Invitational set for Sept. 16

The 8th annual Witherell Invitational Golf Tournament, organized by the Friends of Nathaniel Witherell, will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 16, at the Griffith E. Harris Golf Course, 1300 King Street, Greenwich. The event supports the programs of The Nathaniel Witherell Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

Check in time is noon, tee time 1:30, awards dinner at 5:30.

Participating golfers and area sports celebrities include former heavy weight boxing contender Gerry Cooney, former New York Giants wide receiver Don Herrmann, US Olympic Women’s Hockey Team gold medalist Sue Merz, and former Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Willie Upshaw. Proceeds from the event will go toward supporting critical programs and services for Witherell residents.

Golfers will enjoy lunch, followed by 18 holes of golf. The event will conclude with a reception and dinner, complete with a silent auction and awards presentation. The fee is $960 for a golf foursome, $250 for individual golfers, or $75 for dinner tickets. Golf Hole Sponsorships are $200.
