Pearl East (pearleastct.com) will host its grand reopening Thursday, Aug. 13, at 5:30 p.m., with a ribbon cutting ceremony, at its new home at 323 Hope Street, Stamford. Area customers will recall the successful Chinese – Japanese restaurant closed after a fire last spring at its original location on Summer Street, where it spent 14 years. To the delight of their established following, Pearl East’s reopening will feature a ribbon cutting ceremony with both Stamford Mayor David Martin and Connecticut State Representative, William Tong.

Pearl East is co-owned by Bee (Ivy) Bacher and Chef Ye — the same powerhouse team who spearheaded the previous Pearl East. Bacher hails from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, then New York, where she honed her professional and people skills as both a legal secretary and esthetician. Ivy parlayed that experience when managing Pearl East at its Summer Street locale, winning over fans with her enthusiasm, positive candor and tight ship operation. Fluent in English, Ivy ran the eatery with great success and is thrilled to offer that same level of customer service and an exceptional culinary experience to Pearl East goers — both old and new — at their current Glenbrook setting.

“To say I’m excited about the Grand Reopening is an understatement. Our return has been over a year in the making and I believe we’ve found the right balance of a talented staff, central location and an appealing menu. We offer authenic, affordable Asian cuisine and are especially grateful for the support of the community, friends and family during the rebuilding process,” said Bacher.

Pearl East’s Chef Ye, originally from the Hok Chew province of China, obtained his cooking expertise in Hong Kong. In keeping with the upgraded theme, the Chef has developed an all star menu, keeping favorites while adding popular meals in the same caliber and vein as the restaurant’s former Chinese and Japanese fare. The ‘Founder Filet with Ginger and Scallion’ and the ‘Duck Crepe’ will remain highlights, as will the ‘Sizzling BBQ’ — a medley of filet mignon & shrimp with vegetables, served on a banana leaf.

Pearl East’s menu will continue to feature chicken, beef, seafood, vegetables and unique sauces that will please the palates of Americans and the Asian community alike. Entrees, including sushi and sashimi, range from $13.95-$22. The Grand Reopening will also feature a 20% discount on certain menu items available for in house dining or take-out.

Pearl East’s eclectic, moderately priced menu is a great match not only for families, but also for professionals and organizations in Stamford and neighboring towns. Both its popular take out service and catering services have been reinstated as well. Pearl East’s 660-square feet interior accomodates 65 people and makes for an inviting space for a private party or business function. Past catering clients include the Stamford Hilton, Mandarin School of Greenwich and OdessyRe.

The restaurant will be open seven days a week, Monday-Friday, 11 a.m.-10 p.m.; Saturday, noon-11 p.m.; Sunday, noon-10 p.m., serving both lunch and dinner. Deliveries to Darien, Greenwich and Stamford will continue and there is ample parking around back for on site diners. In addition, Pearl East’s new Hope Street venue can be easily reached on foot by the nearby workforce and residents.

“We seek to accomodate a diverse customer base and are happy to once again, serve the Stamford community and beyond with our extended hours. Set in the heart of town, Pearl East is the ideal spot for a business lunch and go-to destination for dinner dates and family outings,” said co-owner, Chef Ye.

Since Pearl East sported a “coming soon” banner and had a soft opening, the restaurant’s return has been met with open arms. Prior patrons have posted their excitement via comments on Facebook, Twitter and beyond.

“Pearl East was one of my personal favorites. My friends, colleagues and I have anxiously awaited the Grand Reopening. They were sorely missed,” said Ana Maria Ocampo of Stamford, a longtime customer.
