Harbor Point Festival to benefit Young Mariners Foundation

The first annual Harbor Point festival, a benefit for the Young Mariners Foundation will be held on Saturday, Aug. 1, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m and Sunday, Aug. 2, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., at Harbor Point Park at Harbor Point Road and Washington Boulevard, Stamford.

HPS-Clown-2The celebration includes food from area restaurants, rides, games and amusements, balloon sculptures, face painting, a luxury car show provided by the Prestige family of dealerships and a unique fantasy circus. Harbor Point Cirque de SUMMERFEST is a throw-back to a more innocent time when traveling circus was an eagerly anticipated event in small town America.

Cowboy-(1)Thrill to the derring-do of jugglers, acrobats and a rope spinning, whip-cracking Old West show, pony and a dog show. Then enjoy America’s favorite circus clown, Pat Cashin and laugh at the side splitting comedy of circus owner, Joe Barney of Center Ring Productions. Saturday night a DJ plays your favorite songs from 5-9 p.m. and Sunday the popular Otis and the Hurricanes perform from 4-8 p.m. Cost: $10 for adults, $5 for children 6-12, free under 5. Rides are extra. There is plenty of free parking. No backpacks are allowed.

For those who wish to spend the night, the Stamford Marriott is offering SUMMERFEST attendees the special room rate of $99 per night. Metro North gives special group rates.

HPS-DogsFIYoung Mariners Foundation is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt non-profit that uses the universal principles of sailing to provide afterschool enrichment activities and summer sailing camps to underserved, low-income and at-risk children in Stamford and Greenwich.
