The scope of discussions will include politics, finance, medicine, the law, contemporary culture, profiles, food, travel, fiction and humor. Readers will also enjoy the unexpected, such as a humorous Talk of the Town piece, an exploration of the Cronut or a provocative spot illustration.

Patrons will discuss essays and commentary by leading authors and best selling writers such as Malcolm Gladwell, Evan Osnos, George Packer, David Sedaris, Jill Lepore, Rachel Aviv, Michael Pollan and David Remnick, the editor of The New Yorker.

Stories by award-winning fiction authors such as Jhumpa Lahiri, Toni Morrison, Jonathan Franzen, Denis Johnson and Alice Munro are also an important part of the mix in each week’s selection.

At the end of each two-hour discussion session, a new issue of The New Yorker will be distributed and participants will vote for the articles they wish to discuss at the next meeting.
