Author talks energy efficiency Oct. 17

Grab your chance to “go green” at Perrot Memorial Library on Oct. 17 as author Sheri Koones discusses her latest book, Prefabulous + Almost Off the Grid, which highlights the various methods of creating an energy-independent home.

The book is designed to inspire homeowners to consider more ecologically responsible options when building a new home or renovating an existing one. It defines a variety of green construction aspects that offer inexpensive alternatives to create a healthier, more energy efficient home.

The New York Times said Ms. Koones’ books provide “a concise explanation of why prefab is inherently more energy efficient.”

Ms. Koones’ previous books include From Sand Castles to Dream Houses, Modular Mansions, Prefabulous, and Prefabulous + Sustainable.

She is a member of the National Association of Real Estate Editors and has won its prestigious Gold Award for real estate books and is also a member of the Sustainable Building Industry Council and the American Society of Journalists and Authors.

Copies of the book will be available for purchase and signing at the event.

The event is free and takes place Wednesday, Oct. 17 at 7:30 p.m. at Perrot Memorial Library, 90 Sound Beach Avenue.
