Eugene & Friends to perform in Greenwich

Piano trio Eugene and Friends will fill Round Hill Community Church with the sounds of classical music on Friday, May 30, 8 p.m.

Eugene Sirotkine, Cyrus Beroukhim and Laura Metcalf will perform Robert Schuman’s Sonata for Violin and Piano op. 105, Sergei Prokofiev’s Sonata for Cello and Piano op. 119, and Maurice Ravel’s Trio for Piano, Violin and Cello.

Violinist Cyrus Beroukhim’s luxurious sound consistently draws in audiences around the world. Recently appointed as Associate Professor of String Studies at NYU, he continues to perform as soloist, recitalist, and chamber musician, appearing at major venues worldwide.

Mr. Beroukhim’s diverse musical activities are a reflection of his interest in different genres of music. Of Persian descent, Mr. Beroukhim regularly premieres works by Iranian composers. Born in Milwaukee, Wisc., Mr. Beroukhim started playing the violin at the age of three. He pursued his undergraduate degree at the Oberlin Conservatory and went on to receive his Master and Doctorate of Music from The Juilliard School, where he studied with Cho-Liang Lin.

Cellist Laura Metcalf, lauded for her “sensitive, melodic touch” enjoys a versatile career, actively performing worldwide as a soloist and chamber musician.

She is the cellist of acclaimed string quintet Sybarite5, winners of the 2011 Concert Artists Guild Competition, with whom she has performed sold-out concerts across the country.

She has given solo recitals across the US and Europe and outside of the classical realm, she has appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman , the Today Show, The View, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, and at the U.S. Open and New York Fashion Week.

Pianist and conductor Eugene Sirotkine’s commitment and desire to make music creates an “electric connection between him, his performers, and his listeners.”

A St. Petersburg-born conductor who debuted with the Latvian Philharmonic in St. Petersburg in 1989, Mr. Sirotkine was assistant conductor and chorus master with The New York Metropolitan Opera from 1999 until 2008.

He is now in his 15th year as conductor and musical director of the Hudson Valley Singers.

Over the past two decades Mr. Sirotkine has conducted orchestras and choruses worldwide, including The Hong Kong Philharmonic, Cuyo National University Symphony Orchestra of Argentina and The National Symphony Orchestra of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Following the performance, there will be a reception in the parlor. Tickets are $25 for adults, $5 for students and will be available at the door. Round Hill Community Church is located at 395 Round Hill Road.
