Sound of the shofar

Assistant Rabbi David Saiger, of Temple Sholom, blows the shofar for children in the Selma Maisel Nursery School as part of the Rosh Hashanah celebration. During the lessons about the holiday, which marks the new year on the Jewish calendar, Rabbi Saiger explained that most shofars are made from ram’s horns and during the Jewish High Holidays they’re sounded to commemorate the beginning of the new year.
