The Southwest Regional Mental Health Board presents the CT Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services Commissioner Miriam Delphin-Rittmon, Ph.D. as the featured speaker at the agency’s 40th annual Meeting Wednesday, June 10, from 4-5:30 p.m., at the Norwalk City Hall Community Room.

Guests at the annual meeting will include state and local legislators, community activists and mental health professionals from area hospitals, clinics, universities and non-profit organizations.

At the event, the Southwest Regional Mental Health Board will be honoring Bridge House in Bridgeport for their outstanding community service, as well as their unwavering support of the Southwest Regional Mental Health Board and the mental health community. Dr. Alan Barry, Commissioner of Greenwich Social Services, will be recognized for his leadership in raising awareness and addressing the stigma of mental illness. Louis Schulman, recently retired Norwalk Transit District Administrator, will be lauded for his more than thirty years of service to the Southwest Regional Mental Health Board.

The meeting also celebrates the 40th anniversary of the Regional Mental Health Board system, established in 1975 by the state legislature to provide the community with a voice in mental health. The Southwest Regional Mental Health Board (SWRMHB) is a nonprofit community-based advisory council dedicated to ensuring a high-quality mental health system that promotes recovery and wellbeing for the residents of southwestern Connecticut. SWRMHB represents and serves the communities of Bridgeport, Darien, Easton, Fairfield, Greenwich, Monroe, New Canaan, Norwalk, Stamford, Stratford, Trumbull, Weston, Westport, and Wilton.
