Terra and Mediterraneo raise $20,000 for Greenwich United Way

For the past 10 years, local restaurants Terra and Mediterraneo have held a Greenwich United Way “Week of Sharing” in April. Thanks to owner Ramze Zakka’s generosity, a portion of restaurant proceeds during that week become contributions to the United Way’s Annual Campaign.

Zakka’s restaurants have hosted this “Week of Sharing” for the past ten years and have raised a total of $20,000. This ongoing support helps Greenwich United Way contribute funds for dozens of local human service programs provided by our partner agencies. Some of these enable frail seniors to age at home; others give children quality pre-school education, answer the call for help from those in crisis, and provide crucial supports for those striving to achieve self-sufficiency.

Celebrating more than 80 years of leadership and impact in the community, Greenwich United Way is the recognized leader in town at identifying and meeting local human service needs. Each year, more than 550 United Way volunteers research those needs, coordinate the delivery of services, and raise funds in an annual campaign to help provide crucial local programs and services for our most vulnerable residents. Its strategic planning efforts have given rise to many of our community’s most recognizable agencies.  In addition, Greenwich United Way is the largest local non-government source of funding for human service programs.
