AUDUBON: Bird walk, breakfast and bird banding demo

Audubon Greenwich will host its annual bird walk, bird breakfast and bird banding demo on Saturday, May 9.

From 6:30-8 a.m. early morning bird walk, free; 8-9:30 annual bird breakfast event, $10 and RSVP; 9:30-10:30 science demonstration — bird banding, free.

After birding, meet back in the center for a hearty, home-cooked ‘bird breakfast’ prepared by Audubon volunteers. At 9:30, learn about the science of bird banding.

Bird banding provides valuable information to researchers about bird ecology, migration routes and population dynamics. Demo is led by master bird bander Sean Graesser. Observe how birds are captured, banded and what information is collected. You will have a unique opportunity to observe close-up some of the birds species that breed at Audubon Greenwich or migrate through the property.

Children are welcome.

RSVPs are required for breakfast, $10/person, and requested for bird banding, which is free.
