Greenwich Olympian visits Stamford Fencing Center for Olympic Day

Stamford Fencing Center will be joined by US olympians August Wolf — shot put and Greenwich resident Lea Ann Miller — Figure Skating for Olympic Day on Saturday, May 9, at 10:30 a.m., 425 Fairfield Avenue, Stamford.

Olympians August Wolf and Lea Ann Miller will kick off the event by sharing stories of their Olympic Games’ experience. The event also includes an open fencing class and demonstration, the relay fun run and photo opportunities.

Stamford Fencing Center is proud to support the Olympic Movement and encourage children to lead healthy, active lives.

The Stamford Fencing Center activity is one of more than 700 events taking place nationwide in May and June. The events, designed to engage youth and promote the ideals of the Olympic movement, feature athlete appearances, family-friendly activities and interactive learning experiences. Around the world, more than 160 countries take part in the annual celebration.

Olympic Day, created in 1948 to commemorate the birth of the modern Olympic Games, focuses on the Olympic values and ideals such as fair play, perseverance, respect and sportsmanship. In the U.S., Olympic Day events range from small gatherings to large, city-wide events.
