Darien, Greenwich scoreless after one period in DI hockey final

The Darien Blue Wave and Greenwich Cardinals are scoreless through the first period of the CIAC Div. I boys ice hockey final at Yale’s Ingalls Rink.

Darien had a 10-9 edge in shots, with a 7-4 advantage during the first eight minutes, but came up empty.

Greenwich goalie Bryan Archino collected 10 saves, while Wave goalie Will Massie made nine.

For Greenwich, Brian Silard had the best chance, but his shot sailed just over the crossbar.

Darien had a great opportunity late in the period when Jack Pardue got the puck in front to Jake Kirby, but the defense played a loose puck away to end the threat.

The game is the third meeting between the two teams, who tied 3-3 during the regular season. Darien then took the second clash, 5-3, in the FCIAC final at Terry Conners Rink.
