Menchaca wrestles way into FCIAC final

FI-wrestlingGreenwich’s Erik Menchaca, No. 3 in the 220-pound class, beat No. 2 John Ocana of Fairfield Warde in a 2-1 decision in the FCIAC wrestling semifinals on Saturday, Feb. 14.

The FCIAC championships, in all weight classes, are going on all day at New Canaan High School.

Menchaca will face No. 1 Marcus Joyner of Danbury who pinned No. 5 Spencer Stovall of Darien in the other 220-pound semifinal. The pin came 1:55 into the match.

Greenwich-Post.com will be updated throughout the tournament on Saturday.

Notes: Also on Saturday, Brandon Aguda of Greenwich lost his semifinal match to Austin Sherman of Ludlow in the 113-pound class… Ethan Ross of Greenwich lost his semifinal match to Adam Angelucci of Trumbull in the 152-pound class.
