Small Fry, Midget baseball leagues open today

Greenwich Recreation announces that registration for the Small Fry II and Midget baseball leagues will be open starting today until Friday, Feb. 20 by mail only.

In person registration will begin on Monday, Feb. 23. Registration closes on Friday, March 6 or when the programs are filled.

The Small Fry II League is an instructional league for seven-year-olds. Coach-pitching and instruction throughout game play is incorporated for continued learning. Participants must be seven-years-old on or before April 30, 2015.

Six-year-olds not turning seven on or before April 30 must register for the Small Fry I league.

The Midget baseball league is for eight- and nine-year-olds. Combined player and coach-pitching, as well as instruction during game play, will be incorporated for continued learning. Participants must be eight-years-old on or before April 30 and must not be 10-years-old on or before April 30.

Both leagues begin on April 4 and end on June 13.

The first three weeks will consist of practice. Games start on April 25 and will be played mainly on Saturday mornings at various fields in Town, including Glenville School, North Street, and Loughlin Avenue.

Registration forms are available in the Recreation Office, located at Town Hall and online at Greenwichct.org. Once on the town web site, click on Parks and Recreation and then youth programs under Recreation.
