Sacred Heart hoops beats Hamden Hall in thriller, 54-51

The Convent of the Sacred Heart basketball team used some late game heroics Friday night to upend Hamden Hall Country Day School in a rematch of last year’s Fairchester Athletic Association championship game.

With three seconds showing on the clock and the game knotted at 51, Claire O’Neill launched a three-pointer that found the back of the net and left the home team celebrating with the 54-51 victory.

O’Neill finished the game with 10 points and added eight steals, while Emily O’Sullivan led the team with 24 points and pitched in with six rebounds. Not to be outdone was Grace Passanante, as she led Sacred Heart with eight rebounds and also tallied 15 points.

Ciara Henry was 3-for-4 from the free throw line with two clutch free throws in the last 2:30. Lilly O’Sullivan also contributed with six assists.
