Selectmen, League of Women Voters to discuss charter change

Is charter change in Greenwich’s future? The process required to do so will be discussed at a meeting Jan. 22.

The Board of Selectmen will hold a special evening meeting on Thursday Jan. 22 with the Greenwich League of Women Voters at 7:30 p.m. First Selectman Peter Tesei, Selectman Drew Marzullo and newly sworn in Selectman John Toner will be on hand for the meeting as will representatives from the town attorney’s office.

No specific charter change proposals have been made yet but the selectmen and the League of Women Voters will be discussing potential ways to adjust the town charter and how that would be done. Town Attorney Wayne Fox and town legal department attorneys Gene McLaughlin, John Wetmore and Amina Ahmad will present alternatives.

There will be a question and answer period following the presentation. It will take place inside the Town Hall Meeting Room from 7:30 to approximately 9 p.m. For additional information please contact Jara Burnett from the Greenwich League of Women Voters at [email protected] .
