Greenwich Catholic School to hold open house, highlight faith

Greenwich Catholic School will take part in National Catholic Schools Week beginning January 25.

A tradition since 1974, Catholic Schools Week is observed by Catholic schools, parishes and communities nationwide. This year’s theme is Catholic Schools: Communities of Faith, Knowledge and Service and it focuses on the important academic, faith-building and societal contributions provided by a Catholic education.

“As the only school in Greenwich that is a part of the Diocese of Bridgeport Catholic School System, we look forward to this initiative every year,” said Patrice Kopas, principal of Greenwich Catholic School said. “Catholic Schools Week is an opportunity for us to celebrate our school’s commitment to our faith and excellence in academics. We have a special place in the greater Greenwich community and are proud to showcase all that we offer our students and their families.”

Prospective families and community residents are welcome to attend an Open House on Wednesday, Jan. 28 at 9 a.m. to learn about the school’s educational programs and extracurricular activities. Student ambassadors will conduct tours and staff will be on hand to accept applications for the 2015-2016 academic year.

On Thursday, January 29 at 6:30 p.m. the Harlem Wizards will return to Greenwich to take the court in the GCS gym against teachers and staff.

The week will conclude with a prayer service and pep-rally. Additional activities planned include school liturgies, grade-level service projects, and a teacher appreciation luncheon.

Greenwich Catholic School is a co-educational Roman Catholic day school located on a 38 acre campus at 471 North Street in Greenwich.
