The Teacher From the Black Lagoon at Greenwich Academy

Theatreworks USA will bring seven contemporary stories to life in The Teacher From the Black Lagoon & Other Story Books.

The musical review will be held Saturday, Jan. 31 at 10:30 a.m. at Greenwich Academy’s Massey Theater. In Teacher From the Black Lagoon (by Mike Thaler and Jared Lee), children follow Hubie’s imagination as he learns that new experiences can be scary but you can overcome your fears.

These vignettes all center around classic themes that adults and children of all ages will find entertaining and valuable. This performance will bring to life some of children’s favorite characters such as Splat the Cat, from Love Splat (by Rob Scotton), Grumpy Bird (by Jeremy Tankard) and Lilly, from Lilly’s Purple Plastic Purse (by Kevin Henkes).

The event is presented by the Cowan Center, a preschool and childcare program whose primary mission is to serve the children of Greenwich Academy faculty and staff. Collaboration, innovation, professional growth and a strong commitment to the care and education of young children are the hallmarks that govern the Cowan Center’s approach to education.

Tickets are $25 for the show, and $10 for the luncheon following the performation. Information and online ordering is available at Greenwichacademy.org/cowanevent, or by calling 203-625-8995.
