Greenwich Catholic School launches capital campaign

Patrice Kopas, principal of Greenwich Catholic School, has announced the kickoff of the school’s Imagine Capital Campaign.

The goal of the initiative is to renovate and expand GCS’ Upper School building, which serves grades six through eight. Imagine is the first capital campaign in the school’s 44-year history.

“The upper achool may look fine to the naked eye, but the truth is that with our positive enrollment numbers comes a burden: the need to create additional space,” Mrs. Kopas said. “But we also emphasize that this campaign is not only about bricks and mortar. Imagine is about a very special community of people with shared values and priorities who want to ensure the future of our school.”

Campaign co-chairmen Brian Condon and Andrew Sama announced that there has been significant progress toward the $2.5 million goal with over $1 million raised during the quiet phase of the campaign.

In a letter endorsing the Imagine campaign, Bridgeport Diocese Bishop Frank Caggiano said, “The success of this undertaking will renew Greenwich Catholic’s distinction as the only Diocesan Catholic elementary school in Greenwich, and it will allow the Holy Spirit to advance the mission of all schools in our Diocese.”
