Greenwich Library extends hours for exams

Greenwich Library will once again offer extended hours to accommodate the study needs of high school students during midterm exams in January.

Dozens of students use the library as a quiet study space during exams, both as individuals and as an ideal location for group study. The extended hours are designed to give them more time to study and library staff will be able to assist with reference questions.

The Main Library will remain open from 9 a.m. until 10 p.m. on Wednesday, January 14 and Thursday, January 15 (no extended hours on Friday & Saturday that week; regular schedule applies), and from Tuesday, January 20 through Thursday, January 22 for public and private school exam weeks. In addition, the Library will remain open on Sunday, January 18 from 1 to 9 p.m. Note that the library is closed on Monday, January 19 for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

While the library is primarily open for students, anyone can use the facility during these extended hours. The Library Café will extend its hours until 7 p.m. on exam weekdays for students to purchase study break snacks, but will not be open on Sunday, January 18.

“We are pleased that Greenwich students view the Library as their preferred study space and we make sure that they feel welcome,” said Barbara Ormerod-Glynn, Greenwich Library Director. “Offering extended hours during these critical weeks gives students much-needed additional time to prepare for their tests.”

Ms. Ormerod-Glynn also advised that as students like to study in groups, the noise level in the Library may be a little higher than usual, both during extended hours and regular Library hours on exam days.
