Greenwich High boys ice hockey rolls past Vikings, 7-0

The Greenwich High School boys ice hockey team wasted little time in its game against Westhill High School.

Scoring a goal less than five minutes into the contest, the Cardinals kept the pressure on the Vikings and cruised to the 7-0 victory Saturday night.

After Cal McKinney scored to start the game with 10:26 to play in the first period, Decker Curran added to the lead with 6:57 left. A goal by Mike Mozian with 12:12 remaining in the second period made the score 3-0, but Big Red wasn’t done. Brian Silard scored his first of two goals in the game to close out the scoring in the second period with 4:56 on the clock.

Greenwich added three more goals in the final frame. After Ian Fulton found the back of the net with 2:45 to play, Silard netted his second goal with 1:52 on the clock. Rounding out the scoring was Mackenzie Larson, as he made the score 7-0 with only seven seconds to play.

With the victory, Greenwich upped its overall record to 7-1 on the season and will be back in action Monday when they host Stamford High School at 4:45 p.m.
