Greenwich boys hoops can’t overcome Ludlowe, fall 58-49

Although the Greenwich High School boys basketball team was only trailing by four entering the second quarter against Fairfield Ludlowe, they weren’t able to overcome the Falcon’s 20-9 advantage in the second frame and fell 58-49 Monday night.

Big Red, which trailed 30-23 at the break, but the deficit to two at one point in the third quarter, but the Falcons came storming back and padded its lead with a quick 6-0 run.

For Greenwich, it was senior captain Griffin Golden that led the way, as he finished with 17 points. Conor Harkins added 11 points, while Kieran Carroll, the halftime leader in points for Big Red at the break, finished with seven. Connor Langan pitched in with six points.

Nobody had a better day than Fairfield Ludlowe’s Thomas Duffy, as he finished with 18 points. Also joining Duffy in double-digits was Hayes Kelchner, who added 11 on the night. Matt Doyle took home nine points, while Darren Lee netted six points.

With the loss, Greenwich fell to 0-3 on the season while Fairfield Ludlowe went over .500 and has a 2-1 record.
