Greenwich boys basketball upended by Wilton, 80-50

The Greenwich High School boys basketball team fell behind by 11 points after the first quarter against Wilton High School and was unable to recover.

Although Michael Gianopoulos led the way for Big Red, it was the Warriors that came away with the 80-50 victory Friday night.

Gianopoulos finished with 17 points for Greenwich (0-2). In addition, Griffin Golden finished with 11 points, while Conor Harkin added nine points. Caroll Quinlin added five points. Henry Golden and teammate Connor Langan netted three points.

For Wilton, no one was better than Matt Shiffin, as he drained three three-pointers en route to 25 points on the night. Not to be outdone was Lucas Savoie, who added 16 points. Scoring 11 of the team’s 21 points in the fourth quarter and finishing with 13 was Matt Kronenberg.

Greenwich will be back in action Monday night when they host Fairfield Ludlowe High School at 7 p.m.
