Road closure set for Burying Hill Road Bridge replacement

Construction is set to begin on a Burying Hill Road Bridge superstructure replacement that will force a road closure for six weeks.

According to the town’s Department of Public Works, construction will begin Dec. 15 on replacing the superstructure. The bridge is located on Burying Hill Road between Highland Farm Road and Lake Avenue and because of the work the road will have to be closed in that area for approximately the next six weeks.

To accommodate drivers, there will be a detour put in place. Traffic traveling eastbound on Burying Hill Road shall utilize Highland Farm Road south to Cherry Valley Road southeast to Old Mill Road east to Lake Avenue. Traffic traveling west on Burying Hill Road shall utilize Lake Avenue South to Old Mill Road west to Cherry Valley Road northwest to Highland Farm Road north to Burying Hill Road.

The project was designed by GM2 Associates of Glastonbury. The construction will be performed by A. Vitti Excavators, LLC of Stamford. The construction contract for the project is for $158,132.00. Anyone interested in obtaining additional information may contact Frank Petise, senior civil engineer with the town’s Department of Public Works Engineering Division at 203-622-7860.
