Greenwich Restaurant Week on the menu starting Nov. 12

Greenwich is a community that prides itself on culinary expertise, and now the inaugural Greenwich Restaurant Week (GRW) will run from Nov. 12 to 19, featuring more than 37 different eateries and several special events.

Those looking to familiarize themselves with the town’s top restaurants can take advantage of special deals throughout the week to get a full taste of Greenwich’s rich culinary culture. GRW event organizer Jen Danzi began developing restaurant week after being contacted by a number of local restaurateurs interested in organizing to offer their best service to the town.

“Greenwich Restaurant Week is a great way for all of the restaurants to put their best foot forward during a week where new and old faces will fill their places,” Ms. Danzi, a Transportation Authority of Greenwich (TAG) board member, said.

In addition to organizing Greenwich’s restaurants under one banner, GRW is incorporating a mobile app to help guests keep track of participating restaurants and special deals. The Greenwich Restaurant Week app is currently available in the respective Android and iOS marketplaces, and will be updated throughout the week.

“The website and GRW mobile app will be ongoing useful tools for people looking for fast information right at their fingertips, with “click-to-call, click-for-directions, menus, reservations, online ordering, a daily calendar of events, and much more,” Ms. Danzi said.

As an added perk, the app’s functionality won’t end with GRW. Participating restaurants can continue to use the app as a platform well into the future, keeping customers up to date on new deals and upcoming events.

Miller Motorcars’ newly renovated Ferrari Maserati showroom will hold the opening night kickoff party Wednesday, Nov. 12, with proceeds benefiting TAG. The party will run begin at 6:30 and run until 9. Tickets are available starting at $100, which includes a private tasting and gift bag.

Local entrepreneur Roberto Chiappelloni will be the featured speaker during a special event hosted at JHouse, offering insight on his career as a successful business owner and restaurateur. Mr. Chiappelloni is the owner of Manfredi Jewels and Alberto Restaurant in Forest Hills, N.Y. Sponsored by Withers Bergman, the event will be held Thursday, Nov. 13. The evening will start at 5 with registration, cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, followed by the centerpiece presentation and a Q&A and networking session.

Greenwich Chef Rui Correia of Douro Restaurant will also celebrate GRW in New York City, presiding over a special dinner at the James Beard House on Monday, Nov. 17, at 7. Guests will enjoy a five-course dinner and wine, preceded by a reception. Tickets are $170; call 212-627-2308 for reservations and save $40 by using the code “marjoram” and mentioning that you are a friend of the chef.

Available deals aren’t exclusive to restaurants; participating retailers will be offering 10% off to customers who bring in receipts from GRW restaurants. A full list of retail partners is available at Greenwichrestaurantweek.com/retailers.html.

“We are also very excited to incorporate the retailers who are generously offering a discount to diners to shop at their locations throughout the week,” Ms. Danzi said

Additionally, those in need of a ride to the festivities can utilize a special GRW discount with the ride sharing service Uber. Using the code GreenwichRestaurantWeek2014 will net new users a $25 credit, with $5 being donated to TAG at no cost to the user.

In an effort to further excite the dining public about restaurant week, those who “check in” to any of the participating businesses on Facebook during the week will have a chance to win a double-handle equestrian bit serving board from Soundview Millworks.
