Greenwich native Withiam nets NESCAC women's soccer POW honors

Hamilton College midfielder and Greenwich resident Hannah Withiam was selected the NESCAC women’s soccer player of the week on Sept. 10.

Withiam, a Greenwich Academy alum, posted five points on two goals and one assist in two wins during the weekend. She tallied the game-winning goal with 5:30 remaining in the second sudden-victory overtime period of Hamilton’s 2-1 triumph against NESCAC rival Trinity College on Sept. 8 in her first collegiate game.

The next day at non-conference foe SUNY Oswego, Withiam gave the Continentals a 1-0 lead midway through the first half, and Hamilton went on to another 2-1 win.

The Continentals (2-0-0 overall, 1-0-0 NESCAC) host SUNY Cortland in non-conference action tomorrow. Hamilton then takes to the road for a pair of NESCAC games at Connecticut College (Sept. 15) and Wesleyan University (Sept. 16).
