Greenwich Academy field hockey blast Holy Child 6-0 in FAA semis

The Greenwich Academy field hockey team will play for the Fairchester Athletic Association championship tomorrow afternoon, as they upended School of the Holy Child 6-0 yesterday afternoon in the FAA semis.

On senior day, it was Alexa Murray who stole the show, scoring the natural hat trick in the first half. Her first goal was assisted by Alexi Olney. After scoring the unassisted goal for her second, Olivia LeSueur assisted on Murray’s third goal that made the score 5-0 at the half.

In addition to Murray’s three goals, Tatiana Viola got the ball rolling by taking the pass from Katrina Kraus and making the score 1-0. Off the sticks of both LeSueur and Kate DeFrino, Karina Schultz found the back of the net to make the score 2-0.

Greenwich Academy’s lone second half goal came from Haley Carmichael, as she took the ball from Kraus and hit the back of the cage to make the score 6-0.

Julia Booth finished the game with three saves for GA, while teammate Maggie Reville came in and added two saves.

With the victory, the Gators will advance to tomorrow’s FAA championship game, as they will battle Rye Country Day School at 2:30 p.m. Earlier this season, Greenwich Academy competed against RCDS and came away with the 5-0 victory.
