Taste of Italy comes to Barcelona

A taste of Italy has been added to Barcelona Restaurants, which recently partnered with the Urbani Group to provide their new private label of white truffle oil and truffle shavings.

These delicacies are available to foodies through the restaurant chain’s already active online “marketplace,” and are currently being used by Barcelona chefs. Soon, patrons can look forward to a series of cooking classes and recipe cards that highlight the pleasures of incorporating these “tartufi” into recipes such as Barcelona’s hanger steak with white truffle sauce.

While other companies use artificial ingredients, that is not the case with Barcelona’s label, said the restaurants’ Culinary Director Adam Halberg.

“In the interest of adding ‘truffle-value’ to normal grocery store olive oil, companies have found numerous additives and artificial ingredients to imitate or enhance the aroma and flavor of these products,” he explained. “The Urbani family has a long reputation built on access to the best truffle grounds in Italy and a commitment not to use false additives.”
