The kosher kitchen recently introduced to the Ronald McDonald House was done by Greenwich-based DeBear Designs.

DeBear Designs, a luxury interior design firm located in Scarsdale, N.Y. and Greenwich is proud to announce its involvement with the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island Project Design 2014.

Carol DeBear was invited to join a team of America’s top interior designers to design and renovate living spaces for the Ronald McDonald House, a non-profit institution committed to meeting the urgent needs of families with seriously ill children afflicted with cancer.

DeBear Designs was asked to design and construct a kosher kitchen so observant families would be able to remain with their children for longer periods of time without altering their dietary laws. The result of Ms. DeBear’s effort is a beautiful, warm and functional kitchen conforming to Jewish dietary customs.

The cornerstone of the room is an intricately hand- painted backsplash depicting the city of Jerusalem. The backsplash, combined with luxury appliances, custom cabinetry in a soothing azure blue color delivers an inviting environment for the preparation of kosher meals, meeting a critical need for observant families in residence whose children are being treated at local hospitals.

Join in and celebrate the completion of this important renovation. The public is invited stop by and take a look at the great things being done at the Ronald McDonald house. Hours are Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday to Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
