Junior League food drive set for Sept. 8

The Junior League of Greenwich (JLG) will hold a food drive on Saturday, Sept. 8 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. to benefit the food pantry at Neighbor to Neighbor.

The drive will be at two locations, the Whole Foods, located at 90 East Putnam Avenue and the A&P Fresh at 160 West Putnam Avenue. The League will collect non-perishable food, such as cereal, rice, pasta, and canned tuna, soup and vegetables, for Neighbor to Neighbor, which serves as a food pantry for Greenwich and is in need of donations. Shoppers can also give cash donations, which will then be given directly to Neighbor to Neighbor to purchase food for the pantry.

While Greewich has the reputation of being home to the ultra-wealthy, the truth is hunger is a problem here and Neighbor to Neighbor relys on food drives like this to keep up with the demand for services.

The drive is one of the JLG’s ongoing Done In A Day projects. The Done In A Day committee ran this same drive last September and more than 75 bags of food were collected and $225 was raised for Neighbor to Neighbor.
