U.S. Rep. Jim Himes (D-4th) recently met with India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New York before the prime minister addressed a house full capacity crowd at the Madison Square Garden arena organized by the Indian Community Foundation.

More than  30 Congressional leaders including New York Sen. Chuck Schumer, New Jersey Sens. Bob Menendez and Cory Booker and several other members of the House of Representatives called on Prime Minister Modi.

Rep. Himes meeting was facilitated by GOPIO-CT. A few months back, Rep. Himes met with Indian Consul General Dnyaneshwar Mulay at a meeting organized by GOPIO-CT in Stamford at which its members suggested Rep. Himes to visit India next year and explore attracting Indian businesses to Connecticut.

GOPIO Founder Thomas Abraham said, “It is important for Rep. Himes to meet Prime Minister Modi since India is an emerging economy and more Indian companies are investing in the US than vice versa, and we hope that we will take a delegation of business and political leaders to India next year.”
