First Fathers’ Forum session of the 2014/15 season

Join in for the first Fathers’ Forum session of the new year, focusing on the topic “Coping with Stress.” This session will be held on Saturday, Oct. 18, at 8 a.m. at the YMCA of Greenwich and will discuss strategies to assist our children in coping with the social, academic and athletic challenges of daily life.

The panel of speakers will include Dan Brenner, clinical psychologist and superintendent of Roslyn Public Schools, Roslyn, N.Y., and Chris Winters, headmaster of Greenwich High School.

Stress is a common problem among children of all ages, and as a parent, you have a role in helping your child cope with it. High levels of unrelieved stress can lead to behavior problems and can interfere with a child’s ability to function normally.

When we help our children deal with stress, they build coping skills they will need throughout life. Topics will include identifying different types of stress (everyday vs. long term or chronic vs. normal), the warning signs of being overly stressed and stress management techniques.
