Brunswick rowing fared well at Head of the Housatonic

The Brunswick School rowing team traveled to Shelton yesterday morning to race in the Head of the Housatonic Regatta, one of New England’s classic fall head-style races.

The Bruins’ Varsity-8 and Second-8 both managed to win gold medals against deep fields in their respective events. The Varsity-8 rowed the 2.7-mile course in 14:09, defeating 18 crews. The Second-8 bested 21 crews.

The Brunswick Novice-8 performed well, taking fourth out of 28 boats and missed bronze to Chaminade by just four seconds in the 16-minute race.

With four boys doubling-up in the afternoon, Brunswick also earned silver in the Second Varsity-4 event in a field of 22.

Brunswick will race next on Sunday, Oct. 19 at the Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston.
